Muneeba’s birth had been complicated, and she was weak as a newborn. Her father, Muhammad Yunus started noticing issues in her responsiveness, and had an inkling she had hearing loss. Her parents had hoped that her hearing issues would resolve on their own, but as time passed, it became clear that something was amiss.
A visit to the doctor confirmed their worst fears: Muneeba couldn’t hear. The news left Yunus and his family in shock. As a father of three, Yunus had never encountered such a challenge before. The cost of ear implants seemed prohibitively expensive, and they didn’t know where to turn.
That’s when the doctor recommended Indus Hospital & Health Network. Yunus was skeptical at first, but the hospital’s reputation for providing excellent care at no cost gave him hope. Muneeba underwent months of pre-testing before finally being operated on and fitted with cochlear implants. But the wait was worth it.
Just 1.5 months after the surgery, Muneeba’s transformation is nothing short of miraculous. She can now recognise her own name, a moment that brings tears of joy to her father’s eyes. Yunus is grateful for the support of Muneeba’s teachers, who are helping her adjust to her new world of sound. But most of all, he’s thankful to IHHN and its staff, who guided him through the process with kindness and compassion.
“This is a gift from God,” Yunus says, his voice filled with emotion. “I’m so grateful that this facility exists in Pakistan, providing free treatment to those who need it most. I pray for the staff and donors who make this possible.”
